COLUMBIA, MO. - The Reynolds Journalism Institute featured The Pivot Fund Podcast and host Jamaal Glenn in a report on an audio playbook for community news organizations.
RJI described the series as a practical response to recurring organizational questions. Founders, entrepreneurs, and organizers share the problems they encountered, the choices they made, and the lessons they learned while building and strengthening news organizations.
Glenn, who chairs The Pivot Fund's board, “weaves the conversation between the guests” as they answer questions tied to each episode's topic, according to RJI. A sponsored episode examined how boards of directors can become fundraisers, with leaders from YR Media and the International Women's Media Foundation sharing their approaches.
The format treats every episode as a community event. Pre-planned questions establish the issue, guests supply operating experience, and community questions push the discussion toward the problems organizations are actively trying to solve.
The work supports The Pivot Fund's mission to strengthen BIPOC-led community news organizations and turn peer knowledge into a resource that other publishers can use.
