The program was organized by New America in the United States and the Global Public Policy Institute in Germany. It brought together professionals from government, business, civil society, academia, and media to examine questions created by an increasingly digital economy.

During sessions in Germany, the fellows debated the role of corporations in protecting consumer privacy and shaping regulation. They met with Germany's first Inspector Cyber and Information Space of the Bundeswehr to discuss military responsibilities in cybersecurity and compared the American and European innovation ecosystems in Berlin.

“In 2016, I was selected as one of nine Americans selected to participate, alongside nine Germans, in the inaugural Transatlantic Digital Debates Fellowship.”

For Glenn, the fellowship became an early example of using international programs to work across finance, technology, and public policy. It also established relationships and perspectives that informed later transatlantic work.
